Ours is one of the few law firms in the northwestern Wisconsin with the experience and expertise to handle a wide range of environmental law issues, from private property damage and defending alleged violations of environmental law, to landfill remediation.
The Environmental Law Group is led by Attorney Stephanie Finn. Prior to joining the firm, Stephanie worked with Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) assisting in drafting administrative code that governs Wisconsin Environmental Law agencies today. For more than a decade, Attorney Finn and the business lawyers of Herrick & Hart have used her knowledge of Wisconsin's law and code to overcome complex legal issues for municipalities, industrial companies, business owners, public groups, and private citizens.
When Wisconsin enacted special statutory procedures for the remediation of complex and costly municipal landfill remediation, the DNR sought Herrick & Hart's Environmental Law Group leader, Attorney Stephanie Finn to serve as the State's first officially appointed umpire. Attorney Finn brought resolution to an otherwise costly and time-consuming process. For municipalities facing enormous lawsuits, Attorney Finn has successfully mediated the landfill cost recovery actions between the municipality that operated now closed landfills and the many businesses who had contributed waste to the landfills during their lifetime.
The Environmental Law Group is at home negotiation with the DNR and working through the ensuring corrective process, arguing against the agency to combat excessive controls, negotiate fines and settlements with agencies, or suing the agency to force their compliance with the administrative code. Attorneys with our Environmental Law Group are often seen attending public hearings addressing citizen's concerns and speaking to groups to explain the complexities of a new or ongoing environmental issue.
Whether you are a homeowner dealing with contaminated well water or a business owner seeking to streamline costs for a recovery process, Herrick & Hart has the experience to make a significant difference in the outcome.
